Jumpers

JumperConfiguration
J8E11-2 : Normal. The BIOS uses current configuration information and passwords for booting.
2-3 : Configure. After POST, CMOS Setup runs automatically. The maintenance menu is displayed.
None : Recovery. The BIOS attempts to recover the BIOS information. A recovery diskette is required.

Upgrades

  • Cache :
    • This system has got 128 KB internal cache (integrated into the CPU). The Intel Pentium II CPU has 32 K level 1 cache and 512 KB level 2 cache contending the Single Edge Contact cartridge. The cache is nonupgradeable.
  • CPU :
    • Use a genuine Pentium II 266 MHz or 333 MHz for upgrading a system with a Maui motherboard. This motherboard cannot be upgraded with a Pentium II 300 MHz CPU (note that a Celeron 300 MHz CPU will work without any problems). However, Packard Bell has shipped Pentium systems with a Pentium II 300 MHz CPU, but with a slightly different motherboard (I'm guessing this is the Maui+).
  • RAM :

Adding RAM is the most cost effective way to boost your computer's performance.

    • Maximum on Motherboard: 256 MB
    • Uses 8/16/32/64/128 MB DIMMs, 60 ns or faster EDO SDRAM DIMMs
    • Supports only non-parity DIMM modules.
    • The 168-pin DIMM sockets will accept 3.5V 1Mx64 (8 MB), 2Mx64 (16 MB), 4Mx64 (32 MB), and 8Mx64 (64 MB) and 16Mx64 (128 MB) DIMMs.
    • Bank 0 will be populated as the default from the factory.
    • There are no configuration jumpers: The BIOS will detect the size and type of the memory.
    • This motherboard will not accept 36-bit DIMM modules (parity).

  • Video RAM : Some configurations of this motherboard come with 2MB of 100MHz SGRAM soldered onto the motherboard, other configurations have 4MB. The video memory is not upgradeable.

ATI 3D Rage Pro

  • Memory : 4 MB SGRAM
  • Acceleration Chipset : ATI RAGE 2II AGP
